Online Scavenger Hunt
Today in class, we had a group scavenger hunt assignment. The idea of the assignment was to find things on the Internet by using the skills for Searching we have learned. In my group, we had two laptops available so we were able to take two questions at a time, which sped up the process.
There were a variety of questions, varrying from puttting certian items in a shopping cart and saving an image of the page, to finding out prices of homes in University Place or someone with a public facebook who was not our friend.
All in all, the excersise was entertaining and the time seemed to go by very fast. I think my team was one of the first to finish, so who knows, maybe we'll get a prize :)

Concept of Convergence
I looked up the term "convergence" on Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary and it came up with a few different definitions. The first definition simply stated that convergence is the act of moving towards uniform or unity. Another definition of convergence was the merging of distinct technologies, industries, or devices into a unified world.

Physical vs. Digital
Today, there are many different types of documents available digitally that previously were only available in physical copies. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this concept is news. I get all of my news online, varying from site to site. I don't buy magazines anymore, if I want to know what's going on in other people's lives, I simply google the name of some celebrity or click on a link on Yahoo!. There are some things that I would never consider doing digitally however, such as getting a digital copy of my birth certificate or social security card. Other things that have both a physical and digital version where I prefer the physical are things such as birthday cards and letters, which are rarely seen these days thanks to the internet.

Vanity Search
It was difficult to find something about myself that I didn't know was out there, but when I searched my name and birthdate, I found a list of “best times” from my neighborhood swim team from when I was 12. I also found that when I searched my name and hometown, I came up for the UW Tacoma’s Dean list for Spring 2009 quarter, but when I clicked on the link it had been updated with Summer 2009 Dean list students. In images, there was also a picture of me and my family when I searched for my name on Google, kinda scary!
